Counseling Services
Our elementary school counselor is dedicated to fostering the emotional, social, and academic growth of young students. The counselor engages in various activities aimed at helping children succeed and flourish in the school setting.
Students in K-5 at TOPS meet once a week virtually for 30 minutes with our school counselor.
Our TOPS school counselor helps foster a supportive and nurturing environment where students can excel academically, socially, and emotionally.
Below are ways that the counselor supports each student.
Emotional Support: The counselor provides a safe space for children to talk about their feelings and challenges. They help students navigate issues like anxiety, bullying, or family changes, offering strategies to manage emotions and build resilience.
Social Skills Development: The counselor teaches and models important social skills such as empathy, conflict resolution, and effective communication. This helps students interact positively with peers and build healthy relationships.
Academic Guidance: The counselor may offer study strategies, help with organization, and address any learning challenges a student might face.
Crisis Intervention: In times of crisis or emergency, our counselor is trained to provide immediate support and work with families to ensure the student’s well-being.
Collaboration with Teachers and Parents: Our counselor works closely with teachers and parents to understand each child’s needs and to develop strategies that support their growth both in and out of the classroom.
Preventive Programs: They often run programs on topics like bullying prevention, healthy choices, and career exploration to help students build a positive foundation for their future.
Our school counselor is also available for individual counseling and parent conferences to provide extra support or address any urgent issues.
