Families across Tennessee have the opportunity to enroll their students in Tennessee Online Public School (TOPS) for the Spring 2027 semester. Enrollment is open now through December 31, 2026, for students in kindergarten through 12th grade seeking a flexible, high-quality public education option.
As one of Tennessee's tuition-free online public school, TOPS provides students with the benefits of learning from home while receiving instruction from live, Tennessee-certified teachers. The school combines rigorous academics with personalized support, helping students thrive in a virtual learning environment.
TOPS serves students throughout the state and welcomes enrollment applications from all Tennessee residents. The school's 100% virtual learning model allows students to complete their coursework from home while staying connected to teachers and classmates through live instruction and interactive online learning experiences.
While daily learning takes place online, students still have opportunities to build friendships and engage with peers through optional in-person socialization events and activities held throughout the year. These gatherings help students develop connections and create a sense of community beyond the virtual classroom.
Families should note that state testing remains an in-person requirement for students in grades 3 and higher, in accordance with Tennessee state assessment requirements.
In addition to a comprehensive K-12 curriculum, TOPS offers unique opportunities for high school students. Students residing in Greeneville and Greene County can participate in Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses through the Greeneville Career and Technical Academy (GCTA), allowing them to gain valuable career-focused skills and industry-related experiences while remaining enrolled in TOPS.
